For the May 2019 Gratitude Side Challenge

This was taken off the beaten path in the same National Preserve that the previous wildflower photo. "Johnny's" abandon domicile reminds me of how grateful I am for the home I have in a city I absolutely adore.

This trailer is located up an isolated dirt road that winds under huge power lines that link central California with the hydroelectric sources hundreds of miles away. I suspect it may be a remnant from construction or renovation of the towers years ago.

Maybe the name is a clue to what it was used for? Fascinating area, very desolate.

Very fine, interesting image, interesting both aesthetically and philosophically. Meatier than it appears on first glance. The shapes of the receding hills are subtle and full. The center slope is in full yellow flower, like food in a sandwich, between slices of bread. To continue the metaphor, the red and white van is like a piquant morsel, perhaps a slice of radish. The dilapidated van does not compromise the scene in my opinion. It's an apostrophe to the scene, a "what if" that leads me to wonder if someone living there might just wake up in the morning, step outside for a stretch and rejoice in the beauty all around him or her. I wouldn't be surprised to see it removed, but here it is now. I'm glad that this lovely spot moves you to gratitude.

Interesting but shouldn't it be put somewhere into recycling?
Nice layered image.

I'm sure that trailer (caravan to me) could tell some stories.

Formidable spread of color. Wonderful composition without sky.
