 i took the photos for this challenge 4 days before katee passed away and entered it 2 days after I'd taken the photos .. she died 10 days before it went in for voting ..

my little photo bomber won't be scaring off insects and birds anymore altho i always thought at the time that it was better to have her than any photo i might get ..

after katee had gone i wished that i had entered this photo in the extended fs .. rather than the gratitude side challenge .. it was taken a month before she went .. exactly .. but it was too late as it had been seen by too many ppl ..


this is what i wrote when i entered the challenge ..
the info i found on the magpies was so interesting that i felt it would be good to share it ..
it was 7.45 in the morning .. i'd let katee out to have a wander .. and a couple of magpies were hanging around ..
i went and got my camera ..
took a few pics then katee scared them away .. story of my life ..
i'm very happy how this turned out .. and hope it goes well .. however in an extended free study the competition will be fierce ..

some info on magpies ..
The Eurasian magpie is believed not only to be among the most intelligent of birds but among the most intelligent of all animals. ... Mirror self-recognition has been demonstrated in European magpies, making them one of only a few species to possess this capability.

and this is a very interesting link about magpies

and i suppose most ppl would know about the collective name for animals .. like a herd of goats, school of fish ..
a mischief of magpies is just one of the adjectives used .. one was a murder of magpies .. but i felt that might not go well with the voters .. !! .. ;)

Congratulations Roz in taking top spots with this beautiful image. Thanks for the information on Magpies. We have lots of different birds in the Pacific Northwest, but know nothing about the Magpie. Way to go!

Katee̢۪s last gift to you while she was living! How heartwarming! And, What a beautiful image! Such emotional art! Maybe the last page in the fine art coffee table book you should do with Katee̢۪s images! I love doing coffee table books. They are such beautiful memory keepers! Still praying for you dear friend!

I absolutely love this, Roz. It was my pick for blue and 10. I intended to leave a comment but neglected to get back in time. I love the maggies - we have a family of 3 that come around daily- and I just love how you have composited this gorgeous creation.

I knew as soon as I saw this image it would be a winner, not surprised it ribboned, it̢۪s just gorgeous, the lighting and the story, a get together of mischievous magpies, they hang around here a lot too.
