I never took a decent photo of lightning as I am scared of thunderstorms. I guess someone scared me when I was a child. I got some advice from Riccardo ( the_rkp and I put the camera on the tripod and ran 30 seconds exposures. Unfortunately my Sony infrared remote was useless so I had to dash out onto balcony every 30 seconds to press the button. That was scary!!

This was the only shot I got of lightning hitting the ground, all others seemed to disappear into thin air or happen in between the shots, very common!

I posted this photo on the local photoclub page and I got a comment: "Now I understand the terrible noise we had in Villeneuve!" (that's the place to the left of where the lightning hit :)

Congratulations I know the feeling of capturing lightning, I've done it in my backyard, I wish I could have entered into a challenge but there was no appropriate challenge at the time. One day I will. It's a powerful thing to witness lightning, almost a very spiritual experience.

catching lightening is something that dpcers absolutely love ..
so dramatic .. loving the lights like stars in the city below ..
this looks like it could ribbon .. good luck .. great shot .
