After taking this shot, I realized how much it reminded me of Spanky from "The Little Rascals." Anyway, it is always a challenge to get a kid to cooperate, so I am pretty happy with the way this turned out.

crop, channel mixer, selective desat, USM.

This image is more than just a photo, it captured the essence of children connecting with their toys. Radio Flyer will be around for years to come because its low tech details are amazingly appealing.

Wow, my first ribbon! Thanks everyone for the great comments. I really enjoyed taking this picture. At first, I was just going to submit it in B&W, but then I realized that it was a member challenge! This was my first selective desat., and I am happy with how it turned out. I think it works well, because the wagon is the "low tech" subject of the picture.

A few people mentioned the white line behind Ethan's head. That is the brim of the baseball cap. I wanted the hat to be on backwards, but it moved to his left during shooting. Oh well, I am just happy I got the shot.

Thanks again!
Chad

Nice, Crisp, Clear, Jumps off the screen with detail. I miss the link to technology, unless this represents transportation. Very effective use of desat and contrast.

More llike loosening the axle on Alfalfa's wagon so he can have Darla all to himself! ;-) Very nice pic. I like the selective desat, the cropping, the subject. One minor flaw might be the bill of the ball cap makes a white line that follows the line of the boy's neck and makes the boy's image look comp'd in. A better title would help the Challenge subject also - i.e. "Life before Game Boy" or something like that. ;-) Definitely a top pick for me though!

Love the desaturation on this picture and the wrench is a nice touch too. Nice shot.

Good composition and subject matter. There is a distracting line at the back of the little boy's neck that appears created by post-processing. Otherwise, good use of selective saturation to bring attention to focal point.

I would have never ever considered a Radio Flyer "low tech". Best machines ever made to this day! Even with the plastic hubs. Beautiful shot. BOL

Well done. I like the way you have selectively desaturated the picture to bring out your subject. If you hadn't done this my eyes would be drawn to the little boy instead of the wagon. Great way to make your point.

I think the selective desat damages this photo. Good idea though.

This is nicely done. What's that white line next to the boy's head? A rare, effective use of selective desaturation.

Nice crisp clean shot with very good composition. Like the way you removed the color from everything but the wagon. Geesh I need better software! Gave you a very stingy 10..

This is about as good as it gets. A delightful, heartfelt photograph, and the selective desat only adds to the nostalgic feel.

A shot to be proud of for all time.

The selective coloring seems to help the photo. Everything seems very clean. Good job.
