I know there are specks on the glass but it wouldn't get clean!

This was a real hard thing to light properly. The candle made an extra reflection in the back of the glass which was annoying, but I like the star effect caused by the bright light and closed aperture (F8) on the right of the glass.

I think it adds a touch of classyness that one might experience at a restaurant where these kind of dinners would occur.

CRITIQUE CLUB

Well, this is going to be a quick critique, simply because I saw your "after editing" photo. You did a GREAT job editing, and it's too bad it wasn't allowed in the challenge. Excellent subject, great idea, gorgeous reflection. I really did like the edited version. Great job.

I don't know what the specks on the glass are from. this could've had more impact were they not there. I like the candle reflection.

this was a good idea, the specks on the glass bother me a bit, and it's not clear where the food is. The bottom candle looks great!

Neat idea, but i see a few things that take away from it. The glass seems a little tilted to the right, and is not properly centered. The candle reflection is good, but I cannot make out the two reflections on the left. I also think that we see you, the photgrapher in the reflection. The background is not quite blackened enough, we notice it too much. Aside from that the colours are good and the focus is crisp.

The extra light distracted from the attempt. Maybe more wine in the glass and loose the light in the top of the glass,

Ah, the drink of love. Nice interpretation of the subject. Good luck. I like the border too.

Oh! I like this photo! It's well done too. I like the darker tones of the wine, and then the lighter ones over to the left. That doorway is a tiny bit distracting, but it's all cool anyway! Well done! -annida

glass is always hard to light without stray reflections all over - backlighting tends to show it to the best
