Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Lucky 7 (Basic Editing I)
Camera: Nikon D70
Location: Kohler, Wisconsin (our bathroom!)
Date: Nov 29, 2004
Aperture: F/9
ISO: 200
Shutter: 149.2 seconds
Galleries: Portraiture, Black and White
Date Uploaded: Nov 30, 2004

Long time exposure with my (very patient) wife posing seven times while I used a hand held flash to illuminate each position, Extremely hard in a completely dark room (actually our bathroom with a black cloth draped over the shower rail!) Getting the positions right took MANY takes but we're pleased with the results.

Converted to B&W with channel mixer after boosting levels. Slight curve and contrast adjustments. NEat image to lower noise. USM. Resize

Another very impressive image. A good model to help realize it.

Cool shot. I would be interested in knowing how you did it - I assume you had someone covering the lens while the subject moved in various positions?

I like the photo but I wish your eyes were open for the center shot.

You know what they say... seven heads are better than one!

Are you feeling lucky?

Remarkable multiple exposures. I'm impressed by the way you were able to hit your poses with generally excellent exposure and uniform facial expressions. Well done! 7

nice multiple exposures. I wonder which camera can do that.

definately 7 of the subject yes, but I fail to see how they really all fit together. it's an interesting technique, but I don't think it works in all situations. theree doesn't seem to be a 'point' to this photo. focus and clarity are good, and the spacing is good, and nice symetry, but I'm just not drawn into the shot. ~Heather~

very well done with with such an expressive model to elevate the value of this neat b/w illusion. Bumping up.

Could have come out even better if the facial experssions also showed 'moods of thinking' ...good idea though

Striking photo! But wow, it would have had an even greater impact without the "Lucky Seven" in the title. Just "A roundabout way of thinking!" would have been perfect. For me anyway. We know the challenge was called lucky seven. Unless that has some relevence to the photo, which I don't see. But the photo itself is outstanding. Too bad there's that little patch of clothing, or fingers, between the two bottom heads. Again, unless you meant for it to be there, but somehow I doubt it. And I know you couldn't remove it because it is an open challenge.

Nice work! Must have taken considerable thought to get this in three flashes! 9
