Real bile....hehe

Keep at it clay. Your style is yours man and you definitely go where few others tread. You are the young photographers messiah :-)
05/06/2002 09:25:00 AM
one of my first ones was where i threw up some bile for real. but that got old real quick, plus it wasnt very good.

Ryano, listen.

There is a lot to photography other than shock value. I actually like clay's photo's a lot. He has intensity and I count a lot for that.

I think his flame picture was one of the best I have seen.

That being said, in order to capture the intensity of shock you have to get the tech stuff right to help focus the audience. Plus shock benefits from being spontaneous and not staged. I think its evident by the number of comments that this photo did one of the hardest things and thats grab the audience but lost them because it felt rigged for the shock.

Like pretensious rock like Marylyn Manson sucks but real rock like Rollins Band is intense.

Take that photo of the Vietnamese getting his head blown off. Intense. But if it were staged for a rock album it would have been pretensious. Even if the rock band had actually killed someone in the act! Since it was a photo of a real human tragedy the image was shocking, powerful, provocative, etc..

I guess what I'm saying here is even if this guy got his face punched for the camera just to bleed all over the place ( I once did a photo for an album where the guy drove a nail through his hand..for real) it would take a lot for it not to seem staged and lose its effect.

Overall I like the concept though.

going down the list:

its not overexposed, i adjusted the levels. this is what its generally looked like to me when i throw up in my restroom. except lots of sweat and nothing will come into focus.

yes, i got it all over my camera. i didnt cover it.

my shirt did get pink when i adjusted the mid tone levels. i figured i would settle for that since it made the walls and mirror the way i wanted it.

its ramen noodles and red food coloring, which is still on my toilet.

it was a spur of the moment idea, and it all happened in less than 10 minutes. expect a dead cat in the mail soon, langdon.

Shouldnt this one have been entered in stop motion?
05/05/2002 10:27:00 PM
I hope you didn't spend too much time on this.

05/05/2002 05:39:00 PM
Very, very unique!
05/05/2002 09:05:00 AM
Very amusing, once I'd worked it out :o) I'd have cropped in tighter, focusing in on the incoming droplets
05/04/2002 10:05:00 PM
dumb title, dumb idea, ok comp, very nice capture
05/04/2002 09:16:00 PM
Try finding a more appealing subject.
05/04/2002 12:24:00 PM
What is going on here?
05/04/2002 07:30:00 AM
You should have entered this one in "Stopped Motion". Other than the sickening effect it is a good concept.
05/03/2002 10:22:00 PM
A photograph should first of all make people want to look at it. Sorry, I don't!
05/03/2002 12:33:00 PM
i like the shape distincition of the puke. :P
05/03/2002 11:17:00 AM
I hate to be at the bottom of that...
05/03/2002 09:52:00 AM
Interesting picture. May have been better if the bottom was not so washed out, but I'm scoring it high for effort.
05/03/2002 12:30:00 AM
sorry, I'm too simple to get this
05/02/2002 01:10:00 AM
murder
05/01/2002 07:34:00 PM
Fitting title, interesting shot, but it seems really overexposed. It does accentuate the reds, but there isn't enough red to make it the focal point
05/01/2002 03:39:00 PM
while I can't say I really LIKE it, it scores fairly high because it's just so well done in a horribly grotesque way. Seems like the flash may have blown out some of the picture a bit too much -- and for whatever reason, the blood on the shirt looks too... pink? It doesn't seem to be quite the right color anyway...
05/01/2002 03:41:00 AM
Disgusting and badly exposed, but gooood timing. What in the hell have you been drinking? Hope you had some plexiglass or something over the camera.
04/30/2002 07:56:00 PM
Great pic, but I hope we don't have to look at it for a whole week. Oh, ok you probably deserve to win-----10----- I can see this as a poster.

good night man! clean yo self up and don't do that again. ever.
04/30/2002 05:33:00 PM
GROSS BUT A GREAT SHOT!
04/30/2002 04:14:00 PM
Did that end up on your camera?
04/30/2002 04:02:00 PM
thats just not very nice
04/30/2002 11:11:00 AM
Eeww! Hope you had your camera protected! ;o)
04/30/2002 10:12:00 AM
As God-awful as the subject matter is, I can't deny that the photo has redeeming qualities (that was supposed to be a compliment).
04/30/2002 09:45:00 AM
Have you been visiting rotten.com again?
04/30/2002 08:30:00 AM
Lovely. Very surreal. Curious as to how you didn't get that red stuff all over your camera? I like the reflection of the hand on the mirror.
04/29/2002 09:35:00 PM
WTF?!?!
04/29/2002 05:55:00 PM
I suppose this is within topic. Pretty nasty.
04/29/2002 05:17:00 PM
good lord, what was in your mouth?
04/29/2002 05:00:00 PM
Gross
04/29/2002 03:49:00 PM
O'my goodness.
04/29/2002 03:01:00 PM
Coughing blood ??? Could improve photo if the person is not wearing complete white t-shirt and dark blue shirt.
04/29/2002 01:30:00 PM
Oh, now thats nice.
04/29/2002 12:32:00 PM
WTF!?...did you get any of that stuff on your camera?
04/29/2002 12:07:00 PM
Sometines its better to say nothing than to make a comment.
04/29/2002 11:50:00 AM
This would make a great cd cover for some gruesome band. The lighting is to bright.
04/29/2002 11:31:00 AM
WHAT THE HELL?! That's just wicked and weird.
04/29/2002 11:05:00 AM
I'm thinking it's time to go to the doctor.
04/29/2002 10:13:00 AM
Eeek! Is this a nosebleed?

The photo is great, but the subject matter is disturbing.
04/29/2002 09:57:00 AM
blatant disreguard for abrupt, hemmoraging, oral miscarraiges in the medical community will in the future lead to flagrant miscellaneous fetal nucleotide defects which can cause further developmental problems in a child's future.. such as texans taking pictures of themselves spitting soup and red food coloring all over their toilet.
04/29/2002 09:53:00 AM
i like the insainity of this picture, and the fact thats it is not a building.
04/29/2002 08:43:00 AM
overexposed and cluttered. Least you are trying to be creative
04/29/2002 08:39:00 AM
Wow! dude.... this is the most awesomest shot i ever seen... you rock!
04/29/2002 08:05:00 AM
Interesting to say the least. Yet for some reason I'm drawn to it.
04/29/2002 06:24:00 AM
wicked
04/29/2002 05:28:00 AM
Gross!
04/29/2002 03:28:00 AM
Dude that some gross stuff.
04/29/2002 03:23:00 AM
yuck.
04/29/2002 12:43:00 AM
I had to lower your score for makeing me have to stand up with my back to the computer to look in between my legs
05/06/2002 04:41:00 PM
I guess that's the best you can do with a Kodak
