Ok. I've had a major upheaval in my life recently with the death of Lily at the age of 18. I hate what I do for a living but I do it because it's mind-numbing and that means I am not wasting creativity on work.
I am now in my mid 50s and feel age nibbling at my bones on cold mornings. Somehow my parents, both very aged, are still alive but thanks to the pandemic, I have not been able to visit them for over a year now and even when they do pass, may still not be able to visit.
Fire is something we both love and hate. We love how it warms us and how it looks....but only the foolish dare to underestimate the swift, devastating and terminal power of fire gone wild.
Not everything is all bad, you see. I have a good friend and neighbour literally just a couple hundred yards away from me, and she loves fire almost as much as I do! She builds big happy fires in her burnpit, and I come over to drink and talk and maybe roast some marshmallows while we solve the world's problems.
It was while sitting and gazing into the flames this past weekend, and chimping the pics afterwards, that I saw many amorpohous paredoliac shapes in the flames that looked like monsters or skulls. So even though I had an entirely different idea for this entry, I decided to be slightly lazy and meld some fire pics together with pics taken from another location.
Did I mention that I have also switched from the fickle PS CS5 suite to Affinity? Wish I had known about Affinity much sooner...in any case this is the first on-the-fly attempt at an entry while I learn the ins and outs of this new program.
Finally...d'oh! Didn't realize this was also an Archival challenge! Could've saved some time....ah well all good.
PP: shot NEF, slung a bunch of pics together, hit them all with cropping, resizing, and 20% Vibrance before NIKing them.
ETA There are 5 faces (or what I consider to be faces) in the fire. Three are created by the fire itself, only two *hint one is upside-down* were inserted by me |
