I’m going to tell a story .. it features this little butterfly ..

I was walking on the firetrail near where I live and saw a movement on the trail out of the corner of my eye .. I looked more closely and saw this butterfly on the ground .. it was unusual that it didn’t fly away when me and toddy got nearer …

I had been hoping like mad to get photos of butterflies after my triangle butterfly had done so well ..
and there he was .. not moving .. I got down to his level .. and noticed he was injured with one wing bent over and one crumpled ..

i took a few pics thinking of entering one in a challenge .. side-on so his bent over wing couldn’t be seen ..

I thanked the little butterfly and started walking away ..

then it struck me .. he was like a sitting duck .. he was obviously injured and not going anywhere and would probably starve .. so I invited him onto my finger and we started walking home .. a 10 minute walk .. he didn’t once try to fly away ..

when we got to the bottom of the firetrail .. near the dam and leading up to my house .. I saw some paper daisies and thought I could put him on one so he could have a feed and I’d leave him there ..

then I realized that a photo of him on a paper daisy would be a much more appealing than him in the dirt .. I took a few shots ..

he’d have a much better chance of survival if I put him in my paddock where there are like a million paper daisies .. so I invited him onto my finger again and we walked to my house .. at the front there were a couple of paper daisies.. I put him on one .. I wasn’t totally happy with the photos i’d taken of him at the dam so I took a few more .. one of him having a feed I entered in the challenge ..

I then realized I had left my phone back at the dam .. so I left him on the paper daisy and walked back to get my phone .. I was gone about 8 minutes .. when I got back he had flown to the other paper daisy.. which was such a good sign ..

I got him on my finger again and we walked to the back where there are the million paper daisies .. I put him on one .. thanked him so much for being such great company .. took a photo of him with my phone to show my grand niece who loves all animals great and small .. and walked away .. I’m really glad I was able to help him have a better day ..

7 from me. I think I'd like a different crop. But, you've nailed the sharpness and the DOF.

A soft and dreamy butterfly, but sharp where it needs to be.
