So, I definitely don't expect this to win. After all, much of it is out of focus *gasp*. But I had fun playing around with it and decided to enter it instead of my other photo which definitely would've done better.
Basically, I put the yellow flower on a yellow piece of cardboard, set the camera to the lowest ISO and then zoomed in on the flower during the exposure.
Post-processing: crop, levels, contrast, adjust colors, resize, unsharpen mask, frame. I wish I could spot-edit those specs. I have no idea what they are. I deliberately centered the flower in the photo, I felt that an off-center shot was not appropriate for such a symmetrical entry. |

When you stare at the center it becomes darker? Or is it me? Cool shot, should have been a winner. |

This feels like tissue paper - there is a softness to it that I can't describe well. The image has been growing on me (and rising in score) since I first looked at it.

If you look at this long enough it looks like the brown center is getting bigger. Cool shot. Good luck. |

Very nice effect! I think it would be a little better if the flower was slightly more separated from the background, colour-wise, but I like this a lot :) |

The first flower shot that's come up for voting for me ... and what a cracker! Absolutely beautiful. I really like the extreme tight composition so that the flower becomes it's own background, and the square frame works really well. Colours & lighting are spot on. Well done & good luck! |

Is this a zoom picture? Neat effect. You lose some detail in the middle - but I dont think the middle of the flower is the interesting thing here. Nice work. |

I would like to know how you accomplished this. It's a very nice study in yellow. |

Nice job. How did you get the color to spread out from the flower like that? It looks very nice and adds a lot of color and pattern to the image. Good job. |

Wow! Wonderfully creative take on an otherwise common subject. I wish the focus had been a bit sharper, but I give you a 6 nonetheless. |
