this is my son-in-law Ben with his second born son .. Jack ..
Jack was 17 days old when this photo was taken ..

when Ben's son Leo was born nearly three years ago and was 13 days old i managed to get a pretty candid shot when Leo had just had a bath .. and even tho i only had a few seconds to get the shot it turned out to be one of mine and Ben's favourites ..

so when Jack was born we wanted to get a similar shot ..
this shot of Jack was taken when he was just about to have a bath ..

this is going a lot better than i imagined it would .. still four days of voting to go .. ;)

Ben is a wonderful and loving father to his two sons .. i feel this photo shows the tenderness and intimacy that you mention .. and the love ..
i like that little Jack isnt just sleeping or looking relaxed as I don't feel 17 days is enough time to get comfortable in this world .. him being unsettled makes the connection, the caring and the love more apparent .. xx

i did consider this one for the free study .. but i much prefer the one i entered because to me its more emotive ..

What a touching emotive moment captured beautifully by you. I really like it in B&W because it isolates the moment in time without distraction of unnecessary elements. It was an 8 from me. I thought it was a ribbon entry for sure.

The classic pose, but you have done it very well. The real connection between father and newborn is totally apparent, along with tenderness, but also something else - I canĂ¢€™t quite place it, pain, fear, apprehension, maybe - in any event, a degree of intimacy and intensity that is missed from many other photos of this ilk.
