Obviously, drone owners had an unfair advantage in this challenge. Maybe Anita is right and they should've been explicitly banned for this challenge to level the playing field ;). But since they weren't, this was the first and obvious idea that came to my mind. Very easy for me to do, just drive 15 minutes to the beach and launch my drone, there are always people there enjoying sunset. Right. Unfortunately, the first week I procrastinated, and when I finally decided to go out to the beach and shoot it, the weather turned cloudy, and stayed cloudy for the next 6 days. No shadows! I thought I would not be able to shoot it, but on the last day miraculously the sun came out, and so I grabbed this shot. Phew!
Thank you for the ribbon and a very high score. In fact, it stayed above 8 for 5 days straight and only went south yesterday... Oh well. Still, my new PB! First time in 11 years! :) |

Thanks Penelope! What can I say... you're right, it does look puzzling. But I didn't touch anything there for sure, it is basically straight out of my drone's camera. I wish I could look closely at the original and maybe some other shots I made there, but I'm traveling now without access to my archive |

| This was just a drone-friendly challenge. Other challenges may be friendly to someone who has a full frame camera and expensive lenses (Bokeh) or access to exotic subjects. I have a drone as well, and if I'd been traveling to someplace interesting that week, I may have entered a drone shot as well. I also think the drone shots will be harder to score highly with as they become more common. |

Wow I didn̢۪t even notice how high your score was and that alone a personal best. But to tell the truth you have shot way better pictures than this. I̢۪m kind of astonished to tell the truth. No offence to you really. It̢۪s what the voters see.

I knew this was yours :)
Congrats. We were away and staying on the 16th floor in an apartment overlooking the beach, I tried to emulate this but I had no drone and just my 50mm lens on me, it looked nothing like yours.
Only a drone could do this, maybe we should ban them hehe. |
