 This was so far out of my comfort zone that it's taken days of overthinking just to arrive here. The photo looks ok to me as not much more than a kind of snapshot, so I'm just going to submit and hope for the best :)

I found this a tough challenge - which is exactly why I'm here - as it's just not in my nature to do snapshots of food etc in this Instagram/selfie obsessed world. However after failing to be confident enough taking candids of folks enjoying their coffee, I finally thought to just compose a decent shot of my wife and her morning coffee in my favourite cafe and see what happens. If nothing else, it forced me to think about a different kind of subject and natural lighting which was a great learning experience.

I'm glad you got out of your comfort zone to shoot this. Only way to learn.

I liked the concept here, just felt it was a tiny bit OOF and a little under exposed. The cake, I'm assuming in the background looked like a blob also, couldn't distinguish exactly what it was. Did you add the grain for effect also?

Composition was spot on though.
