This may sound weird, but I think this image is spatially breathtaking. Yes, the water, shadow and ripples theoretically plant the bird, the rest of the frame is surreal in its indeterminacy.
There's a scene in the film "Kodachrome" where the Nat Geo photographer says "That's why we're photographers. We're preservationists by nature. We take pictures to stop time, to commit moments to eternity. Human nature made tangible."
