Looking at this shot as a form of stock photography, this shot could be used for advertising, marketing, and conveys a strong emotion and could deliver a strong message.

This piece could be assosciated with water, rain, clouds, and even storms. More than anything, I saw this opportunity to take a beutiful powerful image and chose a unque shot as opposed to something I could score higher on.

The levels and contrast were tweaked to create more impact and it was slightly cropped.

This is a very dramatic shot! You have captured a nice feel that could be used in an add for many things. Your gradients are very good. You have adjusted the contrast and brightness well to bring out the feel of the clouds. I wish that this tree was in a field by itself, the surround trees take away from some of the impact of the larger one. This is not a situation you can control, and you've done well to minimize the other trees overall impact and made the main focus the light area behind the large tree. Usually most would say that the main subject being at the center of the frame doesn't work, but in this case it works well. The framing by the light cloud area behind it makes it fit. Your post processing work is good, no real artifacts or signs of oversharpening.

I like what you've done here. It is a strong shot and for all the winter shots of trees we've seen lately, this is one of the top ones.

At least you made the top 5, but I believe that your shot was probably the best imo. Like you stated before: It has that dramatic feel in which I felt as well as the viewer. A top shot and it is certainly going in my favs.

What a great, moody image! I like that this is not completely black and white (I think I see some blue tones in the clouds). Nice shape, nice clouds. The only thing I can think of to make this better would be to get rid of the trees in the background. This one tree shot against the sky without the trees in the background would be very powerful (IMHO). Nicely done and good luck in the challenge! 8 JD Anderson

Amazing! I've seen a lot of tree silhouettes and stormy skies on this site, but this photo is exceptional! I have to give it 10.

this is fantastic! the hues of bluish grey help the mood of inpending storm, with the limbs of the tree is such contrast against the sky, yet reminiscent of nerves. Very cool!

IMO this is a great picture to have included in a gallery of your work, but it is not a stand alone kind of shot that I would buy to put on display. 6

I like the BnW here... try getting lower and looking up and filling the frame with all of the branches.. otherwise great shot!

Very nice moody shot. I like the way the tree is solhouetted, and the colour tones look great.

I love the halo around the individual branches. I'd love to know how you shot and post-processed this.

I don't like just half the tree being in the picture. I do like the different tones of grey.

Now this has to win hands down. Excellent dramatic image. The b&w portrays the dramatic feel as to the haunting looking tree. Excellent composition and clarity. 10 from me.
