It's a bit cheeky to put Ansell Adams' name in your title. I'm sure you've had a lot of comments on it. Just being a black and white wilderness photo doesn't make it Adamsesque.

There isn't much tonal depth in this image, making it seem overall grey and murky. The composition is OK. It seems like you either have a low end camera or you compressed this too much, because it seems pixelated.

I think cropping the trailer houses might have been a good idea that Ansel would have approved of. The wagon wheel and water trough also say to me, this isn't quite as wild of a scene. Other than those items, this is a pretty nice photo. My personal bias (no score effect, really!) but to me, wildlife pics need to be color.

You have a nice close up of these elk but it lacks contrast and detail in the elks head. Would the horse drawn item have helped your picture if it had been included? It looks as though you might have been able to reposition for a more interesting shot. 5

The shot seems a little cluttered to me, with the "logs" in the foreground, and the fourth elk in the background - yeah, I know, nothing much you can do about it on dpc, it's just my observation! The shot also seems dark to me-(my monitor is calibrated), I would like to see it brightened up some.

Ack, it's way to underexposed. Should have used Levels and the little "eye-dropper" thing to tweak the white level (brighten it).

Lots of potential here, but on my monitor it is a little too dark.

The array of midtones is much too poor to bear any resemblence with Adams' work. could use some work in "levels" (if you use photoshop)

If Ansel shot this the DOF would have been much greater. The colors are kind of dreary, even for B&W. Maybe it needs a little more contrast

Very interesting photograph but quite dark. If you could bump up the ocntrast a little it would be better. Everything seems to just blend together. How did you get this close to the Elk?

This is a very nice shot, but the tonal range is very weak. There is not enough contrast in the image to really make it stand out nicely. Your elk blend in too much with the surroundings... - setzler
