SNY01022

4 seconds exposure: flash was fired, then I waited approx 2 seconds (with ambient light) and then moved background with "falling" sweets slowly upwards during the remaining 2 seconds.

I always wanted to try this technique of creating an illusion of falling/moving objects by combining flash with a continuous exposure.

The sweets were stuck with coctail sticks onto a cardboard background with oasis floral foam behind it. The sticks were oriented towards the camera to become invisible. Light from two sides to prevent shadow. This makes the image taking process very repeatable and not so messy and unpredictable as it would be if I would be really dropping the sweets.
Also, with dropping sweets, it would be difficult getting the movement blur since this requires quite a long exposure.

Does anyone spot the fault: The top two sweets are behind the bag, instead of in the bag?

I will post a "how'd they do that" picture after the challenge.

Very creative a lot of work went into this I can tell, I hope you didn’t eat the candy afterwards, think of all the chemicals. :(

Like a sugar avalanche I guess. Don't know why this is called "comfort" food. It gives me heartburn.

Clever take on the challenge. I think I would like it even better without the bit of bag in the top right, but I understand you likely included it to give a sense of the candies being shaken out.

I’m liking the photo, the colors are great and it’s got a fun vibe. Plus licorice is one of my favorite candies. But in regards to the title… comfort food, to me, is more about warm filling things, savory or non savory, that scratch an itch with no regard to calorie or nutrition content. Pure confection (sugar) doesn’t really fall into that category.
It’s probably just me though (I don’t drink soda either).
