this is a pretty cool shot, love the depth of field and seemingly sharp focus but It would have scored at least a point higher with me if it were in color

I'm not sure this works for me as B&W - the water and the surrounding stone/wood seem a bit too close. Good composition.

I see a lot of potential here for a great shot. I like the b/w. The subject is definitely on topic for the challenge. However, IMO, I find it lacking a little interest factor. It looks like there may be some good lines, and would be worth exploring different perspectives.

Judging from a comment received on my submission..I believe this may be "Sandymaya`s" image?
You have been luckier than me in the respect that the lock mechanism is bigger and more obvious on your lock gate. I found it a very difficult subject to photograph in an interesting way without making the mechanism an afterthought and it`s affected my score.
You have managed to keep the mechanism the central theme..so I hope you are doing better than I am.

i am not sure what this is. i think you should not hvae this one in black and white because there is so much grey colors in this picture.
