Critique Club Critique
(1) COMPOSITION (CONTENT) This is a wonderful photograph. I love the the compositional use of framing with the branch of the tree. I also like the way the light is hitting the front of the old school house, it adds a depth that would not be there if you had chosen to shoot this at a different time of day. Your lighting choice was superb!
(2) BACKGROUND There are a few minor details in the background that would be distracting if they were in the foreground, but you have managed to keep them at a minimum and I am not bothered by them.
(3) CAMERA WORK ,TECHNICAL The DOF is very good, all of the important parts are in sharp focus. Exposure is right on.
(4) DIGITAL PROCESSING ,TECHNICAL Your post processing is good. Wonderful use of black and white. Is very reminiscent of an old movie... perhaps "To Kill a Mockingbird". You have managed to keep your whites very crisp without losing your blacks. That is not always easy to do.
(5)MEETING THE CHALLENGE You have done a fantastic job of meeting the challenge in a refreshing way.
(6) MY OPINION ON THE PHOTO The subject here is wonderful. The way you executed it is great. This was one of the best of the stock pics. I am happy to see your score reflecting this. Well done! |

| Lovely. Those trees are amazing in black and white. The perspective on the building is very fetching. I'm not sure about it being good for stock photography, but as a free study photo it's gorgeous. |

| Every one has got to love an old school house. As I look at this picture the shadows and the dark side of the house distract from the picture. It looks to me that the porch which is the best part of the picture could have been used to make a much stronger shot. Maybe you could have incorporated the shadows of the porch on the front wall and the architecture of the porch into a very interestin piece of work. 6 |

| I love the the composition in general, but especially the way the church is framed by the branch of the tree. Love the black and white. Would love to have seen a little more light on the church building, but even as it is, it's a wonderful shot. |

| Nicely composed, exposure, and focus are wonderful. I love the way the building is surrounded by the pattern of bare branches. Good image. |

| Very nice. I like the B & W and the lighting is great. I might have cropped it a bit tighter on the left to get rid of the distracting buildings. |

| Beautifully composed. I lke the colour in which you chose - gives an 'olden' type of feeling. The tree also adds a nice touch over the sky as well. Kind of breaks the boringness of the sky with patterns from the branches overhanging it. Excellent photo. GL. |

| Nice framing with the tree. Your exposure is well balanced and, given the title, it seems to illustrate the one room schoolhouse. B&W does well on this image. |

| The branches appear almost to be growing out of the schoolhouse. This is a beautiful shot, you caught the perfect lighting and the composition is very effective. |
