A black squirrel? I've never seen a black squirrel. Where is this? Nice photo. I like the curve of the limb and the leaves on either side of the squirrel. |

this looks to be a most interesting subject. even though the flash is a bit strong, that is something that can be corrected in post-processing. compositionally, centered subjects don't do that well when there are too many competing elements in the background (the high contrast makes this a very busy background). i hope you're getting some good comments and suggestions, and that you're not getting overlooked in this monster challenge. if you aren't getting the scores and comments you expected, don't take it personally; just consider this a good starting point for the rest of the year. good luck is this and the coming challenges! |

The lighting here is a little harsh - the flash is a little heavy handed. I do like the comp though - positioning him in between the two sets of leaves works really well. |

I've never seen a black squirrel before! Interesting shot, though the light on him looks a little harsh- flash? |

Good capture, shame about the, erm, blue eye. I'm sure the light was consipiring against you, but would have been maybe better without the flash. Still a solid 6 from me though, |

I have never seen a black squirrel before! I didn't know they existed. This is a squirrel, isn't it? And I've had this same conversation with the ones in my back yard :) |

The on camera flash really flattened this out... also, use your background. That hole in the foliage might have served as a nice frame for the squirrel. 6.5 |

Nice DOF... hi eye is a little strange, maybe it's just me.
The background is a little blown out. |
