This a great shot!. The panning really emphasizes what it is like to ride in a speed class, and absolutely enhances the action. This image in my opinion should be used in a riding magazine.

I think that you did a great job capturing this image, and it should have placed much higher than it did.

It amazes me that 80 people thought it was only an average shot for this place, and 26 actually voted it below average! It just goes to show that this place has a LOT more frikkin idiots than it needs.

Is it me or does the horse look like it's smiling? Nice capture.

Very nice job on this, great focus on the horses face, and near perfect on the girls.

This shot is all about motion. Excellent motion capture. You really nailed the concentration on both rider and horse, and show how much of this kind of sport is true teamwork. Focus seems a bit sharper on the horse than the girl. I would guess that's an autofocus issue. Might be worth playing around a bit in manual mode to see if you can get a sharper image? 9

Frell. That's some panning job!
Unbelievable clarity, just where it's needed, on the horses head. Kudos on an awesome piece of sports photography.

NIce shot here... wonderful panning job! I'm a horseback rider so I really appreciate this shot, not only because of how clear botht eh rider and the horse aare... but the horses and riders stances as well. Only thing I might say is I would have wanted to see a tad more definition in the pants... What level is she riding at? What height here? Definitely gives the thinking of "speed" Love it. -9-

I am usually not a big fan of motion blur because so many use it when it does not enhance a shot. This on the other hand is very nearly perfect. Great focus on the subject. My only suggestion would be to maybe crop a little tighter on the left, but I understand why you didn't with the writing on the saddle blanket.

Other than wanting to see the whole horse, there's a lot to like about this shot--rider's correct position and their eyes both looking ahead, the intensity that both display, the motion blur. Must be an oxer from the horse's position? Great job.

I like this image a lot but unfortunately the back ground is a bit distracting (imho). I would have liked to seen that softened considerably to really bring focus on the fantastic dynamics between horse and rider. None-the-less, a fantastic capture. BOL 7

Nice capture of the jump and concentration of horse and rider. Looks like you were panning with the rider creating a nice motion blur of the background. Like the cropping as well. Good Luck.

Great panning effect. You could have reduced the background colour saturation a bit to give more life to the subject.
