Critique by Silver Fox.
Greetings Natasha.

Lovely Black and White Photograph.

I simply love the shadows created by the columns.

Your photo is very clear and crisp, so much so, that you can see the grain in the wood on the poles nearest your camera and on the walls further away.

Your gray and white tones are nicely done, especially making the wood look old.

DOF is nicely done. Focus is nice and clear.

Looking above at the beams,( I can just barely make them out) I wonder if you could have brought out more detail in them?

When one first looks at your work, they would assume that the columns are supposed to lead you to the gate, but I think they would be wrong. It is the shadows of the columns that lead you there - is it not?

Natasha - I do not see anything wrong with your photo, you've done a good job. I wonder what it would look like if you had used a tripod with a much slower shutter speed? Keep up the good work, look forward to seeing more of your photos in the future.
Ed.

Nails the challenge. Light and lines take you right to the gate.

Drawn to the gate, for sure. Tad bright on the ground, made it darker above. The detail in the roof above (beams etc) would have brought out the picture even more.

The lines are great, but seems to lack a definite subject. I do like the photo.

nice. i like the shadows too. only complaint would be that the gate is hard to differentiate from the closer columns.

I thought that this photograph was great. I like the lighting. Having the ceiling so dark provides a very strong line that leads the eye into the image. The columns to the left add a great perspective to the shot and the shadow of the columns falling across the scene break up an otherwise dull part of the photograph. The depth of field is good too. If it was too narrow it would have spoiled the shot. Great.

this is an interesting use of lines, but they don't lead to a subject or point of interest... the lines are the subject instead... - setzler

Wonderful perspective and the lines are really definate here. The use of b&w really brings out the black lines. Great photo and gl.
