Challenge: Breaking New Ground (Basic Editing III)
Collection: Floral
Camera: Canon PowerShot G6
Location: Home
Date: Jan 14, 2005
Aperture: F/8
ISO: 50
Shutter: 10s
Galleries: Still Life, Floral
Date Uploaded: Jan 14, 2005

A glass with water and a tulip is right BEHIND the canvas (from the camera point of view). The light source is pretty far (about 2m) behind the glass. As a result, the tulip shadow is projected on the canvas. Long (10s) exposure with the smallest F number (8) available on my camera. The bright area is due to focusing of light on canvas after passig through the water in the glass I'd love to get some vignetting effect around the flower but did not have time to experiment much with lighting.

Post-processing: crop, brightness and contrast adjustment, curves, levels, rather strong contrast up again, USM, save for web.

I didn't vote on this challenge, but I really dig this image, both for its simplicity and for (what I consider to be) an innovative technique. Thanks for posting how it was achieved!

very good still life - a little harsh on color and sharpness though.

I like this composition but am torn between whether or not the focus and grain were intentional. It's hard to know if this is just a bad snapshot or apart of the artist's vision!

I like the reflection but the grainy background, not so sure

nice 'cut-out' effect. but somehow the image doesnt seem 'finished' (I know its basic editing, lol) just can't put my finger on it.
