Challenge: Breaking New Ground (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Canon EOS-300D Rebel
Location: Rural Virginia
Date: Jan 12, 2005
Aperture: 1/5
ISO: 100
Shutter: F/18
Date Uploaded: Jan 18, 2005

twisted the barrel while shooting at high aperture low shutter.

post challenge notes i barely got this into the challenge. at 11:58 i decided to risk it and just go for it. i had another shot that i had submitted, but i chickened out on that.

when i originally processed this, i used advanced editing rules. it wasn't until about 11:30 that i actually started considering this, and re-editing under basic rules. the results were fairly close, but there are recognizable differences. i'm just glad i got it in, especially considering the kind comments i received!

it just goes to show, sometimes, it's worth taking the risk...

thanks for all the kind comments. i felt like i was taking quite a risk submitting it, and i'm glad i did. it's good to know that sometimes these type of images can make it through a challenge without being completely picked over ;-)

here's another sunset, cropped and framed a bit differently, but shot using the same technique

How great is it that the photo taken by one of my favorite photographers reminded me of one of my favorite films?! Great work, as always, Skip.

Great zoom technique. Love the colours and softness. Looks like the camera moved though a bit up during the zoom. Would have been perfect shot if on tripod.

This is a very appealing image. The subject, composition & colours all complement the overall effect you've chosen. Can't decide how much of what you've done is in-camera & how much is after. Either way, it's memorable. 8.

Sweet effect. Great colors of the sky and I like the streaking lines of the trees. I can only guess a little zooming in was used right at the end of the exposure to create this. Looks great :)
