thanks for all the kind comments. i felt like i was taking quite a risk submitting it, and i'm glad i did. it's good to know that sometimes these type of images can make it through a challenge without being completely picked over ;-)
here's another sunset, cropped and framed a bit differently, but shot using the same technique

| Great zoom technique. Love the colours and softness. Looks like the camera moved though a bit up during the zoom. Would have been perfect shot if on tripod. |

| Sweet effect. Great colors of the sky and I like the streaking lines of the trees. I can only guess a little zooming in was used right at the end of the exposure to create this. Looks great :) |
