 The impossible love of a god for the nymph; who preferred to be transformed into a laurel tree rather than yield to Apollo's desires.

Sketched out of an illustration of "Apollo and Daphne" 1622-25, white marble, detail Rome, Galleria Borghese. Sculpture by Gianlorenzo Bernini.

Cropped, contrast adjusted 8 second exposure while working on the sketch.

And yes, I know, my sketching sucks.

That story is my favorite when it comes to Greek mythology so I think it's awesome to see it referenced here :)

As for the photo, it fits the challenge while also being out of the box. Very interesting image indeed, more artistic than the vast majority of photos in this challenge. Well done!
