This shot will either do really well and be one of my higher ones, or it will totally crash and burn . . .Hopefully the former.

Cut a puzzle shaped piece out of a piece of foam board. Using a bamboo skewer, suspended the piece above the hole. Put a pink napkin over a flashlight shining up through the hole and took a bunch of pictures.

I've been wanting to do this shot for some time, and just haven't gotten around to doing it.

Post processing --
Cropped
Cleaned up some odd colored spots
Cloned out the bamboo skewer and shadow
softened the line between the flat foam and backdrop

wasn't completely happy with it

used selection to select the top of the upperright puzzle piece. Played with curves, dodging/burning/screening, etc. until I found something that made the top piece stand out a bit more and not fade into the background quite so badly.

Really cool approach to this challenge, I love it. The lighting in this shot is superb in my opinion (wow good lighting in a Light challenge, ha ha). I'm curious, either you have this shot taken with the piece on it's side standing on a table or something and/or it's suspended and you cloned out the strings!?!? Hope to find out. Good Job
