Greetings from the critique club!!
Initial impact: Woa thats dark.. hmm gangsta..ok it fits.
Does it meet the challenge: Well so long as thats realy you in the pfoto I would have to say yes.
Focus: Very Nice and crisp I don't think you could have nailed it better.
Color: well theres not much color in this shot. I don't feel that alot of colors would have been appropriate for this shot either. I tend to think however that I would have liked this shot a little better if your eyes had been a tiny bit brighter. The are a strong feature in this shot and that they were underplayed.
Lighting: I tend to disagree with the others however on this aspect. I think that the lighting was just right. I see gangsta's as being dark and shadowy. I feel tht the stong shadows in this case add to the feeling of danger.
Composition: The layout you used works very well. I think however that due to the fact that your only realy showing the one eye. That a bit of an agle from the side might have looked better. I think that this might have given you a more candid appearance.
Overall: Very strong image. I dislike the gangsta's that I have met in person and don't usualy care for there nature. I feel that you may have lost a very slight amount of points due to this factor. Despite my dislike for the subject matter, I still would not be able to score this photo any way but high. Powerfull shot Keep the great work coming.

Very nice! I bet you have all the chicks in DPC land swooning. Technically I LOVE the way the eyes sparkle. That makes any portrait, and the overall feel of the shot is good! 9 Good job! |

i don't know anything about portraiture, so i'm using your image to try to figure out what i think i would or wouldn't do in this situation, as well as what i notice and get out of your image.
my initial reaction is, "whoa, dude, i didn't know that was your sister..." what a look! excellent job with the lighting, all the way around. you've really captured a wide range of tones and textures that all compliment that steely glare. i would have to say you have succeeded in capturing the essence of the individual. good luck with this. 8 from me. |

An outstanding effort with superior focus and great mood lighting. The facial expression grab the viewer at once and the steely blue eyes are like rivets coming at you. Bumping up. |

The lighting is distracting but the eyes make this photo (8) |

Very nice. Good composition. My one small nit is the black t-shirt - looking for more contrast with the background. Still, can't give less than a (9) here and I'll concede to being swayed by handsome good looks! |

I don't really get Gangsta from this shot, but it is a nice shot. I think the hat is unflattering and takes more away from the shot than it adds. The eyes look great. Shadows are just enough to be brooding without loosing too much detail. Good job overall. |

A tad dark perhaps, this shot is ambiguous to me, puzzled. Good job. |

Skin tone isn't completely "spot on", but you've made an effort with lightning. I would try to use curvers, and lower the red channel a bit, and bump the blue channel. See if that makes your skin seem more natrual. sharpness is OK. 5 |
