Challenge: Self-Portrait III (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Kodak DX4530
Location: Driveway at home in Lemay, Missouri
Date: Feb 13, 2005
Aperture: f4.8
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/30
Galleries: Candid, Portraiture
Date Uploaded: Feb 13, 2005

Camera was mounted on the tripod. Picture is actually a reflection of myself in the windows of my Plymoth minivan while the Ford minivan is used as the background. Used auto mode with the flash turned off. Auto contrast and levels in PS Elements as well as slight color variation adjustments and the autofocus. Not the best picture but I like how it doesn't look like a mirror image until you focus on the camera and see the backwards writing and the fact you can barely see any of my wrinkles!

Odd- I REALLY liked this self portrait - I like how it looks old fashioned, like a photo from the 50s with a 21st century camera, ironic. I love the colors and the slight distortion, I meant to go back and givie it a bump up, I wish I had so I could be the one to give the highest score. Good work.

i have some issues with this image. though it is sometimes okay to have the camera inside a self-image shot, i don't think it works here. i also see you're trying to get the hang of image resizing, which is a very confusing task. colors need to be more saturated as well. i think this was a good effort but method could be improved.

the line across the shot at camera height is very distracting

Reflection is a bit muddy, some extra time could have been spent on choosing a better reflective surface and background for a cleaner shot, and at an angle that didn't include the camera (unless that was intentional).

Distorted, grainy... not very artistic.

Not sure what you were going for here creatively. Obviously a reflection, there is a distracting line through the center of the shot. Most of the other submissions featured a facial expression that was definitely a smile, or definitely not a smile and that approach might have helped improve this image. Including the camera in the final product gives this shot more of a "snapshot" feel and will not help the final score. The background is visually uninteresting and the clothing sort of blends in with it. It was great that you actually included your face. Unfortunately, I just wasn't able to give this a very good score.
