 I bet I get a DQ request for this, but it's honestly perfectly legal. Just took the shot, grey-scaled it, and then adjusted levels. That's it. (After crop and resize of course)

I figured that this challenge would be full of studio shots, and I just wasn't into doing more high-key studio shots, as I've done a bunch lately. So I was going to skip the challenge when I grabbed this shot today (the 28th), and thought.. hell, you know.. that would work. So I did the post on it, and whatta-ya know.

Yes, the duck probably isn't "light" enough for some people, but whatever. The ripples at the bottom ground this shot in a semi-"reality", and the duck is just dark enough to remain a duck, yet keep some texture and definition. We'll see how it goes.

I didn't comment on this challenge, but gave you a 10. This was one of my favorites, I remember it well. I like the black and white, the lighting, and the way the water just fades away into the background. Good use of negative space. I wouldn't change anything at all about this one

This picture has been hunting me since I first saw it. It is so beautiful!!! I know how hard is to get a picture like this, I failed trying it .... Congratulations for such an excellent job!!! (10)

This is a very pretty photo. I think the composition is its strongest feature. I might have tried to cut off a little off the top and include more water at the bottom but then it wouldn’t fit the challenge as well. This is my pick for 1st place.

Not really a light toned subject but anyway a good photograph. Interesting reflection and the position of the bird really works well just above the visible ripples of the water. -6

WOW!!! Such a beautiful, blissful and peaceful photograph. I like the use of negative space and the way the duck is gliding over the water! Composition is awesome as well as the reflection. Certainly have met the challenge here. An excellent capture. WELL DONE!!!

Great shot. I like the even gradient look of the background, still very white behind the subject. I'm not sure how "light" the subject (and the great reflection) is but it still looks like a challenge to get just the right exposure which I guess is the point of this contest. gotta be a 10 in my book.

This is really nice, although because it's black an white the duck is dark rather than a light colour....I really like it though, and still give it an 8.
