I think that this is a good use of the US flag symbolism - I have said on some other images using the flag that "Without wishing to offend, the patriotic call implicit in the flag may switch off some non-US voters - very slightly cheapens the image for me as it feels as though the symbol is being used to evoke an emotive response that the picture would not otherwise demand." Here, I think that you have managed to combine it with a little more dignity and relevance than most.

However, I am not a fan of the selective desat - too much white here for a full desat to work, I think. Maybe a muted tone would have worked better?

would have been better if everything was black and white, except the flag coffin. soldiers in color take away from the effect.

I am making two passes on this Challenge. I will vote on your photo then return later(before voting is over) to comment on what I like and dislike about your shot. You can take the comments however you wish and I will try not to be mean. Just don't take it the wrong way.

Seems like you were there at the right time. Good shot. The only thing I would change is crop some off the right of the shot.

Very powerful image. Not so sur the selective desat worked on the grass. The stones look like they are floating or were pasted in. Otherwise a really good photo. Good Luck

Nice clean shot. Good job of desaturation usage. Hope you do well, as this picture is just enough different from the rest, that you should place well. Good luck!!

I had thoughts of photographing a burial ceremony, but decided that was a private event for the families involved. This however is done in a very tasteful way, because it does not include the immediate family. Very nicely done. <8>

Nice shot, it may be better having left in the green in the photo. But I still like it.
