The first thing I notice about your photo is that it is washed out. Looks like the sun was too bright that day. Easiest way to fix this is to shoot during different times of the day.
Focus on the main subject seems a slight bit soft, which could be related to the brightness of the shot. Seems like extremem brightness and darkness effect sharpness.
I do like how you put the subject off center. With the arrow though pointing to the left, it makes me want to look to the left, and there is nothing there but the edge of the photo. I wonder if it were possible to create the photo where the extra space were to the left instead of the right of the photo, as the background doesn't really add to the photo anyway, if you were to cut out the right 1/2 I don't think that would take anything away from your shot.
As for meeting the challenge, I am not sure about that. I don't have that religous knowledge to know exactly what event you are referring to in this photo, but to ME it does not reflect the beginning of something. There are a million ways to represent this, so to you and I'm sure lots of others it does show the beginning, but not to me, since I lack that knowledge.
The little wings on the person on the sign tie in to the writing on the post, but I think that they may represent death/dying which would represent the end of something. Or maybe the beginning of the afterlife? Again, my lack of knowledge here makes it so I don't understand the point you are trying to get across.
Overall, a quite flat image, of which I don't understand the meaning.

| I'm sorry, I'm not real sure that this photo conveys "in the beginning." Also, the composition itself is not isn't real captivating. |

| Interesting idea. Pushes a very religous angle on to this challenge. Maybe intended to be funny (ie don't press button, but instead trust jesus...!) - though this does not fully come out of the photo. Maybe somehting with cars blurred in background going past would have got that message across better. Otherwise, image is slightly bland, lacking in strong visual interest. Sticker remains on sign are distracting (something that could have been removed). Colours sightly muted. Tenuous link to challenge. |

| There is an aberration on the "walking person" icon that makes it appear to have wings. This is interesting even though it might be unintended. While I imagine that you feel this shot meets the challenge, for me its a bit of a stretch. Also, I don't care for the prostletizing. |
