 I tool this shot when I came upon a large group of Painted Ladies in a bunch of flower bushes. I wasn't really prepared for a clos-up shot as I only had me Sigma 17-35 f2.8-4 lens with me. This was taken at 35mm. Most of the butterflys were pretty skittish but this one liked getting her picture taken and stayed still for quite a few shots.

At 35mm this final image only represents a small portion of the original. I used level adjustment, contrast and brightness, some saturation boost, and unsharp mask.

If the photo wasn't too busy I would have given this 20 out of 10. The texture on the wings and the general sharpness is stunning. As it is definitely an 8.

Very sharp, and good, rich color. The business of the flowers detract a bit, but overall, very nice.

Cliche. Great focus though. Great colors in this shot too. Flowers are a bit too bright. BUt overall I like this.

Darken and blurr it a little to push out the b fly
