This was taken flat on a table top. I dropped the dart from above and triggered the camera with it's remote. It took many, many attempts.

Superb! Great coloration.

Man, I'm kind of glad I didn't see this before doing *MY* shot for Stopped Motion II.. I might have said, "eh, it's been done!" and never gotten my 6.7! :)

ahh.. to have been in challenges 2 years ago :)

Great shot! It's very obvious that it took lots of effort to capture such action
01/23/2004 12:46:32 AM
Love this action shot! Very creative way to do it!
06/08/2002 04:31:00 PM
This is soo coool. Perfect capture. Great detail. Just wonderful shot =D
05/27/2002 10:49:00 PM
Beautiful, creative, and extremely well done! The lighting is perfect for setting the mood and bringing out the color of the darts. I can't imagine how you set this up, but would really like to know. How many tries did it take to get this one?
05/27/2002 12:20:00 PM
awesome. the flying dart trails really set this one apart.
05/27/2002 08:27:00 AM
Congrats! Very nice job Tim. Great capture.
05/27/2002 04:24:00 AM
Congratulations! Even more impressive now that I know you had to catch it yourself. One thing, though - I find that if I squint hard enough the entire image disappears. {g}

awesome shot!
the only critique i coul possible suggest is that it seems a tad too far cropped on the right, a little more of the photo shown there might have been nice.
great job
05/26/2002 04:10:00 PM
nice shot, u've got the bulleye. well done
05/26/2002 12:16:00 AM
great shot, a 10
05/25/2002 04:11:00 PM
OK, how long did it take you to get this just right? I think the bullseye could have been a little more to the right IMHO.
05/25/2002 08:14:00 AM
Good photo. i would have liked it a little sharper
05/25/2002 01:48:00 AM
Did you use some kind of flash trigger, or is your timing just amazing? Very impressive catch. Love the specular motion blur from the fletching on the moving dart. My only nits are the highlights on the two darts in the board and on the metal bits could use some smoothing out, and it looks like the focal point was just a bit forward of where it should be. The DOF trails off right behind the bullseye. I'm guessing the oversharp highlights are a result of trying to get sharpness out of a not-quite-in-focus foreground. Top ten.

A game with action!
05/23/2002 10:23:00 PM
Thats just... um.... just....

05/23/2002 09:16:00 PM
How did you get this shot, Nice
05/23/2002 06:52:00 PM
Too cool and nice use of colors and motion trails.
05/23/2002 11:10:00 AM
Was it a bullseye? I like this one. I hope it wins. What did it look like with a faster exposure? I like the expression of motion, just curious if you
tried to "stop" it. Kewl darts. Photo 10 Creativity 9 Games 10 total 10
05/23/2002 10:42:00 AM
Nicely caught. I would prefer to see more of the dart board though.
05/23/2002 08:41:00 AM
I'm sitting here trying to figure out why I like this and the only thing I can come up with is the motion blur of the third dart. Nice effect!
05/23/2002 05:17:00 AM
Ok, now THAT is cool! -NBT
05/23/2002 12:29:00 AM
Excellent! how did you do that?
05/22/2002 02:15:00 PM
Great shot, would be perfect if it was a little brighter (photoshop tweak would of worked). But I still have to rate this in my top 5 cheers!
05/22/2002 01:34:00 PM
Wow, excellent action shot. Amazing timing to have caught that dart just as it's flying in to strike home. Well done.
05/22/2002 10:37:00 AM
Excellent! The blur on the head of the moving dart is great. If I had to criticise something then it would have been nice to get more definitiopn on the point of the moving dart - could rear curtain flash have done this? Just a quibble though - it's still a 10.
05/22/2002 07:23:00 AM
Nice capture. I'm interested to see how you did this, especially with the lack of holes in the dareboard you must not have had to make a lot of attempts, or there's something tricky. :)
05/22/2002 02:48:00 AM
Very nice, this is in my top 3.
05/21/2002 11:30:00 PM
Awesome photo - I hate to think how many tries it took to get the timing right... Please don't say "One". Nice framing... Oh, and not bad dart throwing although I guess it wasn't you throwing the dart.
05/21/2002 09:05:00 PM
Very, very, very cool motion blur!
05/21/2002 04:22:00 PM
Nice effect
05/21/2002 11:02:00 AM
Wow, how many times did it take you to get this just right? or are you that good at darts? ; ) The dart board seems a little overly sharp, but that may be as a result of reflection from the lighting. Nice action shot
05/21/2002 10:02:00 AM
umm ... wow. I'm jealous. Great composition, well focusn, no distracting background, the light reflections from the flight are awesome, and your timing is impeccable. Did it really hit the 25?
05/21/2002 09:39:00 AM
I'm a bit torn on the lighting on this one. I like the way it brings out the foil on the darts, but the bakground seems as if it's stuck between two worlds. As if it's not sure if it wants to be well lit, or darkened out. The same applies to the back portion of the dartboard -- darker or lighter. Great sense of action to the shot. I was thinking about how I'd do this -- dartboard facing up and the dart was dropped from above? Makes it a lot easier to guarantee where that third dart is gonna go...
05/21/2002 08:06:00 AM
This is AWESOME......Perfect
05/21/2002 05:45:00 AM
That´s a bullseye!
Nice movement on the dart!
05/20/2002 11:38:00 PM
How many times failed attempts were involved with this shot? ;o) Nice job catching it. I like the movement.
05/20/2002 07:10:00 PM
Best of the bunch! Nicely done.
05/20/2002 06:41:00 PM
awesome. good timing.
05/20/2002 05:37:00 PM
Looks too much like it's been set up, but like the movement on the third dart. cool picture.
05/20/2002 02:29:00 PM
Great action. Good story and color.
05/20/2002 01:26:00 PM
nice going, great timing love the colors in the flight, well done
05/20/2002 12:23:00 PM
Wow. That really must not have been easy. Maybe unless you put the dartboard on the ground, dropped it and then rotated it. However you did it, it's still a great photo.
05/20/2002 11:51:00 AM
Nice capture of the moving dart! I am one of the other 'dart boards' this week. I spent a lot of time trying to make a very similar shot but my 'flights' weren't helping me and I did not have the correct lighting to pull it off. Good job!!
05/20/2002 11:22:00 AM
Nice timing!
How many times have you threw to get this shot?
Great !
05/20/2002 11:13:00 AM
Nice action shot! Well done, wee bit dark, but nice work.
05/20/2002 10:53:00 AM
A great action shot. I really like the way you captured the movement of that 3rd dart. I wish the edge of the dart board wasn't so close to center, but you really dont seem to have had any option about that.
05/20/2002 10:16:00 AM
This must have taken you awhile to get this. Was it frustrating? Nice. I love the lighting and the framing is great. Love the colors. Good job!!!!!!! :)

I had to come back and look at this again. I really love this one. Great job. This diserves an 11!
05/20/2002 10:06:00 AM
Wow, how many shots did that take????? I demand a "how'd they do that" for this one!! Nice....
05/20/2002 08:03:00 AM
I'm speechless....a rare occasion. This is remarkable - great shot! No complaints I like it just the way it is.
05/20/2002 06:51:00 AM
wow. great photo. how many attempts did this take?
05/20/2002 06:38:00 AM
This turned out awesome! I love how you've captured the game in action. Perfect positioning of the board in the composition. Nice how the bull's eye is in focus as well as the darts. And the lighting on the dart in motion is totally cool! Very well done!
05/20/2002 06:23:00 AM
Just WOW !
