This is almost spookily similar to a shot I have in this challenge. Bout the same angle, same position of the person, and the other surfers out in the water. Lovely job!

I think that I would have chopped off a lot more on the edges to emphasize the depth of the scene.

Great scene. It's amazing how many people try to compose the perfect shots and are afraid to take a photo of what they really see out there. This has a very natural feeling to it and the yellow really helps draw the attention to your subject. I like that you can see the others out in the water that they are going to meet up with.

Maybe if you cropped little more from the left and leaving only the ocean it would score 2 point higher for me. Great photo though.

It's a good thing he's/she's wearing bright yellow, this draws your eye right to the subject

Meets challenge description............5 I don't know what the main subject of this image is because there is to many interesting elements to this image.
Meets definition of Minimalism........5 for the same reason as above.
Technical...........can't tell if it is my computer or the image but it appears to have some artifacts in the area of surfers and sky, everything else looks okay to me though..........8
Artistic........10......I like how you framed this image, the rock to the left if omitted my have made the image stronger, but in away I think it adds to the story of talking about the envornment that surfers live in. I love the feel of the dark sand and the white of the foam, beautiful contrast..........I suppose I'm judging the artistic a little high because I am an old surfer with three boards in my back shed waiting for the New England weather to warm up the Atlantic........but we don't have to tell anybody that....nice image...

Average score 7

Nice. The yellow on and with the kayaker really makes it clear what your subject is. I think you did well with the theme and the photo is minimal yet still interesting.

nice concept, excellent use of theme only wish it was a sunny day to get more color or contrast. you should call and complain to the weather person to give you good weather on shooting days....high score

Meets challenge superbly. Love the point of view , and the bright yellow against the subdued colors. Very sharp. Like the wet feel of the sand on the beach. Very nice work!

I think this would have been more effective with just the bottom 1/3 - 2/3's of the image - cut out the blue sky
