This is in the mountains behind our subdivision. Once this challenge came up this was my first thought. Saw this tree a few months ago and thought it was weird how tall it was compared to the rest. I have the camera zoomed in all the way. My camera has a 10X Optical zoom so maybe that will tell you how far away this is.

Hi Rex, its me again ;)

Now, am not sure its worth commenting on this pic, its all be said before and I'm pretty sure if I challenged you to return to the scene (if its possible) you could do wonders here and imho a 2:1 portrait aspect ratio would add more of a sense of vasteness :)

I think this could've been a neat photo if it weren't blurry. After reading the description attached with it, I know why - always turn off your digital zoom!!! You can't get a good shot with it on; your photos will always turn out blurry/pixelly. When I got my Powershot, I didn't know to turn mine off and ended up taking a ton of photos at a family reunion that turned out truly awful. :) Now I know!

the soft focus, graininess of the image gets in the way

which tree? With better focus and somehing more interesting at the bottom it could have worked out

there's nothing interesting enough in this photo to catch my eye. The trees are too blurred also. If they were sharper, then this would look better.

The trees all seem to be out of focus.

A little fuzzy and not that much of interest.

Too much sky not enough subject matter.

Kind of plain in my opinion

subject doesn't have a clear presence

I see a structure but I am unable to decypher its shape. This is a case where favoring the subject would bring you a higher vote. 5

what is standing tall
04/27/2005 07:24:48 PM
what is the subject ?
the greenery is very indtistinct
04/27/2005 07:16:24 PM
Blurry, and the composition lacks anything to make it memorable.

oof

Focus is a bit soft. Try the USM after resizing, it helps a great deal. I'd also add a bit of contrast to bring out the clouds. Good luck.

the one slightly taller tree didn't quite make the strong image part of the challenge. Apologies if I misunderstood.

There doesn't seem to be any particular center of focus in this image. The sky is beautiful, but the trees in the foreground are a bit out of focus. If there were something of interest amongst those trees, it might be better.

A difficult image to comment on really, it has simplicity and is minimal, but the elegance I associate with minimalism is lacking

To much noise & unsharp
