Greetings forom the Critique Club...

Hi fatman...

Finding a few brightly colored tulips in a junkyard certainly has a nice thought behind it. Capturing the emotion felt by that takes a different process though. I wish you had posted your own thoughts about this photo. Then I could offer you more. In your eyes, how does it meet the challenge and what does the image 'say'? What inspired you to make it? These questions don't need answers, but they should be included in your own writeup about the image, especially if you want someone else to give their time to write a detailed critique.

IMO the tulips are very pretty but the tires just dont make for a nice photo. The vines make the photo cluttered looking and compete with the tires and the tulips for equal eye attention. love the title and what i think ur vision was for this photo. this might have been better with just a grass background instead(at least for me) i like that u didnt use negitive space...good luck...bumping up after sitting here looking at it :o)

great picture, intersting - how they lean toward each other in this horror surrounding - great framing

good use of color and depth of focus. i just wish the tulips themselves were a bit more in focus.

Meaningful although you could have shown the tulips a lot larger and still have the minimalist theme...

I like this idea.

It could benefit with a contrast boost, no?

beauty amoung the trash... even though i would normally say there just seems to be too much in the photo for my eyes to focus on the 'subject', this one works well, as the minimal subject is such a bright colour and a different contrast to the background.... nicely seen....

Slightly shallower DOF would have greatly improved this shot.

A bit darker and having the background a bit more out of focus might have made this picture better. It is rather to crowded as is for this challenge. But your creativity and thinking in this picture is simply great!

Good use of DOF to make flowers stand out; I like that

they seem out of focus to me.

It seems to me as though the tulips are slightly out of focus....I think they could be a little sharper. I do like the placement of the flowers in the shot, well done.

In a normal photograph I don't this would of worked. But in this challenge I does for me. You subject pops out and I like the DOF. 7

The only bright spot in a junkyard!
04/27/2005 12:01:10 PM
The fussy background detracts from the image, but I guess you were trying to show the beauty of the flowers against the junk. I'mafraid it doesn't do it for me. Sorry

Even the ideea is good the background is far to heavy.

The idea here was very good, but the executuin leaves a little to be desire. The background is just too distracting.

I think this could have been a great shot, if there had been less DOF which would have blown those tires out more. Too much detail in the background for me. <5>
