 I have been keeping an eye on the bluebird birdhouse in the back of my yard and noticing that there has been alot of activity lately. There is a side door on the birdhouse that can be raised for cleaning and viewing. I was up early this morning and saw the "5" challenge. When I lifted the side door on the birdhouse and saw the 4 eggs and 1 baby I knew I had my subject. The picture was taken with my Canon 1:2.8 100mm macro lens on a tripod from about 2 feet away. Iso 800, 1/25 sec at 9.0 aperature. just a little cropping, slight increase in contrast and unsharp mask.

This is actually a very competant photo. Technically this is virtually perfect. Subject doesn't move me though. If you can apply your obvious mastery of the technology to a more appealing subject, you can significantly raise the scores I'd give.

there's a lot of potential drama here, that unfortunately i feel was missed by the image. a shift in lighting or a shallower dof, throwing more of the background into a greater blur would have been very effective.
