Seems snapshotted, though I know you took time to set up the games. Looks almost like an ebay -- not much thought went into it. I could be very wrong though. It just lacks a lot.

That's a bunch of games, alright. The colors are nice, but I'd have tried for another setting.

I like Mancala, too! This is a pretty decent shot, everything is in focus. Good job! Something that I would consider doing differently next time is move the games still closer together (you could even have some of them overlap) and then zoom in closer to remove some of the background. Or, move the table against the white wall that is visible in the back of the picture and then take the shot there so that the chair and the curtains don't distract you from the games you are supposed to look at.

Nice color but too contrived for my taste

simpler background and less harsh lighting would have helped out this photo. :)

clean shot

Glare on the chess board hurt your score. I've never seen the Wizard of Oz game! Mancala is known by MANY names and is the oldest game I
know of. (older than rock, paper, scissors by a LONG shot!) Photo 9 Creativity 7 Games 2.666 each game(8) total 8

Nice display of games... The flash on this photo really hit the checkerboard pretty hard... This is an instance where some diffusion of the flash will help... you can hold a kleenex or some other thin paper like toilet paper over the flash to help reduce this effect... good job!

Although this shot completely meets the challenge criteria the shot itself is not an impact photo. I would of loved to seen a closer shot of the Wizard of Oz board. That would of provided some interesting colors for the photo.

the reflection on the chess game is distracting

You got some interesting games there. I would have like it better if you would have gotten closer and only got the games in the frame the chair, walls, floor, and curtains really pull away from what the main focus should be.

I think you would have been better off picking one and taking pictures of it. Your field of view for this is too broad, what's with the chair in the background, the wall outlet, the window curtains. All of these things detract from your subject. Next time choose one and really get in there and show off what the games are.

You sure took the challenge litterally.....Games....

The lighting seems pretty harsh on the checker board.

There are a lot of extra elements outside what you want us to be looking at. the chair in the upper right corner, another game on the floor over by the Wizard of Oz, the window and curtains. I'd suggest moving the table over closer to the wall and shooting with a nice plain background. You've got a little bit of a glare on the chess board -- it's not too bad, but it could probably be fixed so it's not quite so strong.

Feel like this picture needs some spunk to it.
05/20/2002 05:28:00 PM
I don't know how to play Mancala, can you teach me?
05/20/2002 02:42:00 PM
The background (curtains, chair, etc.) distracts the viewer from the games. Perhaps focusing in closer, or maybe just choosing one of the games as focus.

Too far away, can't see details of games. good color and lighting

looks like a fun rainy day.

too much going on in the background - window, drapes, carpet, chair, leg of the table... also, there's a glare on the chessboard

Good focus. Shame about the reflection on the chess set - looks like a window.
