 All my most creative ideas fell through, the initial idea was to

1) Have a dramatic, EVE-esque model kind of shot, red-head model, red apple, over the shoulder, selective desat on everything that isn't red etc... The model got sick

2) Planned to cut up the apple into little pieces and suspend it with black thread on a black background, this plan fell through because of disorganization

3) Resolved to execute an unoriginal idea, I was going to drop the apple into a bath and capture the splash. Time constraints and laziness meant that I couldn't realize this.

4) Settled on a corny macro with the water droplets and everything. A bit of a creative compromise - I do, however, smell impending irony as my most unoriginal entry to date will probably outperform my previous ones.

Thanks for the encouragement, man. I think this shot works better out of an 'apple challenge' context because as an idea for the apple challenge it's a bit flat, but as a generic textured macro shot it works. I think I got grilled by the voters for the simplicity of the subject and the perceived lack of creativity.

Strangely enough, I thought this was quite a 'stock photography' type image which can sometiems do well on DPC - the voters are pretty unpredictable hehe.

This is very good in my opinion. The lighting, position of apples and use of black and white with shallow dof has created a powerful image.

Good shot, but I think apples look better in color. That's just my opinion though (6)

This is a nice image. I really like the fact that you shot this image in blacka and white and the detail and texture that can be seen.
