 Shot in raw and converted with Raw Shooter. My first foray into RAW workflow.

The native flute (a birthday gift from my wife)was lit with a moving flashlight to create some halos and shadows during a 30 second exposure. It was then removed and I moved a blue penlight around above the white board to create the illusion of moving spirits. Took about 30 shots to get this one.

Post processing included a gaussian blur layer that was selectively removed with a mask, curves, contrast, color balance and some burning and dodging. Light sharpening and save for web. It may still lack contrast for some people on here (having found that people generally like higher contrast images) but I wanted to create a more ethereal, almost ghostly image with some light painting. It was almost what I had envisioned in my mind and so I am happy overall with the execution.

In case anyone notices, I AM aware that the flute is being held incorrectly. I can actually play it pretty well and I know that the left hand would normally be where my right hand is in the shot. I think the overall effect works though.

This looks like a piece of artwork! Quite interesting and definitely has that little something "unexpected" that makes it a compelling photo.

Pretty creative! A little soft on the focus but I would guess that is what you meant. Great use of light.

I dont know how you've done it but there is a lovely ethereal quality to this - very creative - it is a very compelling image - good luck

I like the light around the picture and the feel is good. The main subject could stand to be sharper in my view. 7
