It is hard to take a photograph of a bee. I would advise anyone planning to photoghraph a stinging insect not to use the flash. That is all.

Greetings from the Critique Club :)

Hi Bass...

This photograph probalby has some merit, but it's too small for me to critique it effectively. I also feel that it's too far outside the challenge theme. I do see your intent with this photo, but I think it's too extreme to do well.

Cheers :)

Poor focus and composition. No candy.

I don't feel that this is really in the spirit of the "candy" challenge. On it's own - the shot seems to be split in half, with half in focus and half out of focus. The out of focus part looks like it could have been mostly cropped off, and it would have helped the shot. I would have preferred to see a closer up shot to see the bee better.

Too bad you could not get any closer to the bee

I'm giving this image high marks, because I think it is appropriate and creative. You would do well to figure out how to make your image larger, though. There are a few threads in the Forums about how this is done.

Really neat shot! It's a pretty long stretch for the challenge (maybe too creative of an idea for this challenge). On the other hand, I like bee shots and this is a pretty good one. I scored you down a bit for the challenge aspect, but this morning...I'm feeling more generous. Score raised from 7 to 8. Rob the Swash

Now this is really an abstract meaning to the "candy" challenge, but good idea anyway. I wish the bee wasn't so centered though, it would have been better if you'd followed the rule of thirds and placed it further towards one of the corners.

Nice pink. The composition with half the picture out of focus could be better.

Great interpretation. I love honey candy. Good focus, too.

I get it, but it doesn't really fit the challenge.
As for the photo, the bee could be brought in closer to the viewer with zoom or crop to make it a better focal point.

needs to be closer.

Picture is a little small. Doesn't really fit the challenge even tho I realize that Bees make honey. Nice shot however.

Hm, you appear to have downsized this picture a little too much. You should contact a friend, or acquaintence, who knows how to do so for the next challenge.

Otherwise, the colors are nice, and I like your DOF. I do wish the bee had been more off-center, did you consider the ROT? Concept is good, always interesting to see a bee in the middle of burying himself in a flower. Good luck.

maybe a larger image would do better here... this is also a stretch for the 'candy' theme.. - setzler

more pixels please

Oh clever. I never would of thought of the honeybee. Good idea.

Interesting slant on the challenge. Well done
