I like the intensity and power that you captured. Beautiful lighting of water and sky. The colors are neat. |

I love how we get to see more of the water detail by having backlit in this manner. Impressive shot. |

This is quite spectacular and does bring me back for more looks; but the more I look, the more I wish there was a trace of detail in the deep shade. Probably not possible with the exposure you made, I guess. Whatever, a strong entry. |

Nice image but I don't care for the sepia tones. I would love to see this image in living color and would probably like it much better. |

Is that old faithful at yellowstone? Not a fan of the post-processing - but the subject is really beautiful!

I like the way the water and the clouds look similar and are at cross directions - sort of like two skies. Nice light and tone. I wish the composition were more interesting that this almost centered one. |

Outstanding capture, crop, and processing. Love the tonal range. Love the moodiness and emotionality. Very dark and somber, but majestic. My hat is off. |

Fantastic capture with awesome lighting, but that duo tone doesn't work for me at all. |

I'm not sure if it was a possibility, but I would have liked to have seen a slightly faster shutterspeed to freeze the top of the guyser...wait a minute, it seems sharp on the right side. I'm confused.
Did you perhaps dodge the detail right out of the drops? ...or did you over-apply neat image?
Anyway, I'm not sure why it's soft at the top and left side, but otherwise this would have been near-perfect. Great tones, good work! |

Very dramatic capture and lovely presentation, just wonder if it may have improved it to off centre towards the right - good luck |

Wow. Excellent capture. Not sure if I care for the colors used, but I can't think of any better ones so your choice works for me. 8, may bump later. Drama - I forgot to say drama - you've got it here. :) |

Beauty is a subjective thing, I know. In my scoring and comments I'm trying to score based on NOT whether or not I would think a particular subject beautiful, but on whether the photographer has succeeded in creating a beautiful photo. I look for the elements of color, lines, focus and dof interest, lighting, and a certain element of grace and lovlieness. I'm looking for a unique and creative appeal for the highest scorers. (This is what I'm putting at the start of all of my comments, and I hope it is helpful.)
That being said, probably my first thought was that I wished this had more of a portrait orientation to sort of follow the movement of the water. It feel crowded at the top of the frame over the water. I really like the subject, the lighting, exposure and good focus and stop action. The tones, eh. I'm not sure on that one. Fits the challenge well.

Maybe I'm crazy, but at the top it looks like a horse is coming out of the water, with it's mane flowing back. Very cool capture. |

Very striking. I love the light outline of the water and how it contrasts with the diagonal lines of the sky. Good choise of colour too. I feel however that the high contrast of the photo hides some of the beauty. |

Old Faithful? I was thinking of going to the park to photo Old Faithful. It would have never been near this good. The backlighting really brought out detail in the water and the sky is perfect. I would like to see the color version. You did a wonderful job. 10 |
