Heck, black could have run all the way to the other side of the board before checkmate. But then... this is a decision challenge. LOL. Good lighting, nice solid black background. Just a touch oversharpened around the black king.

Solid composition, lighting and focus and a profound portrayal of a decision that was either made by the subject or for the subject. I guess that is cleverly left to the viewer to decide. The photo makes use of few colours which minimises distractions.

People make chess pieces move, they make decisions... this would have rated much higher if it had a hand in it. Lovely photo, it's just wonderful.

haha i know a few people who would like this picture. but now ill look at it on the side of photography. the angle of the light is nice. and the black also has a touch to it though i think a texture of some sort might have been more adequet.

What amazing focus! That dark chess piece looks like it comes off the photo, 3-dimensional. This could be a chess lover's framed wall print delight :)
