Well, Gladys ... it just goes to prove that one person's "perfect 10" is another's 2. To those who commented that this is too dark, I must ask; what do you want to see here that you are unable to see? Many people get confused about enjoining photos. One must judge too dark by the brightest point in the image, not the darkest. If this were lightened, the bright spots would explode beyond distracting. While certainly cool by tones, this is a very acceptable exposure that literally aids to put the viewer into a quiet, deep woods where they belong, in order to engage the photographer emotionally at the precise instant the shutter was tripped. This is not the beach. This is not joyous frolicing in sunshine. This is deeply thoughtful and contemplative, exactly where decisions dwell. |

Beuatiful light...very solitary and remote...and also very haunting...I love the monochromatic palette...very nicely done. |

Nice lighting. It's a little dark, but I think that adds to the mood of the shot. It seems to be crowded a little, shooting this from a couple steps back would improve it I think. |

I don't feel that the image conveys instantly recognizable decision. Lovely photo. |

The light and the shadows along with the sign, all work toward depicting the theme in a quiet, contemplative manner. But this photograph goes beyond just a decision. The stairway (certainly ascending from the prospective of the viewer and thereby the traveller) and the short, dark corridor to the right suggest consequencies to that decision. One of the few 10 scores I have given, this is a perfect photograph where all the components work together in harmony in order to make a positive statement. This is certainly my top pick for this challenge and will go into my "favorites" group. |
