This is the Grist Mill at Haywood Community College. Kind of a lame example of some of the wonderful "flora" we have in this area, but everything seems to be "late bloomers" this Spring. Plenty of dandelions though! :-)

This should have gotten higher scores....

It's a shame this photo is so low in the rankings. It's going in my favourites.

COOL! This is a great, unique, artistic photo. It really stands out among most of the photos I've rated. I just love it. 10!!!

i often like shallow depth of focus but in this case, i cant tell what taht is in the background. so it's not effective.

shame the blurry background dominates this shot

Great concept - would like to see this shot with the background just a little more in focus (which I normally wouldn't say, but I'm curious as to what that is in the background). good job.

Very shallow DOF here, the background is really blurred out but somehow still looks a little noisy. I like the positioning of the flower, good luck!

Very effective use of DOF -- would be interested in seeing this with some illegal filter (e.g. watercolor) run on the background only...and maybe a thicker outer border.

Background is BAD. The dandelion gets lost to the background.

The background is too much of a distraction and takes attention away from your main subject.

excellent use of shallow depth of field... i think the lighting on the flower could be a bit stronger to make it punch a little more... nice work :) - setzler

I love how your mind concieved this shot.................really neat. The covered bridge, water, light, and colors is really special. Nice work. I hope to see more like this, it's soooooo interesting and different.

I love the composition but I can't figure out what is behind the flower. Is it a lake and a barn??

Background over dominates the flower. Good use of your depth of focus, but it is overwhelming the flower a bit.

Your BG is very disturbing to me, the flower is good. 6
