Thanks all for the comments and I see your point(s) completely. I make no excuses for the shot. But in explanation I would offer this: I was going to pass on this challenge since I knew I would not be able to capture a bird shot even remotely close to a winner. I knew I had to send my CF cards in and was preparing to do just that when I let the dog out for a pee. I saw this bird two telephone poles down the road. I could see he had something in his mouth. It was 7:30 at night. I live in a valley so the light was already gone. I quickly went back inside to get the camera, had to switch lenses to the long lense, quickly ran back out and had time to get two shots before the bird took off. I was surprised it came out as it did. No post processing other than crop, resize and save for web.

Bird and rest of the objects are underexposed! Did u metter the sky!?
