Date Uploaded: Jun 12, 2005

I spent hours watching this King Vulture before I got a few decent shots. He was in an indoor enclosure surrounded by heavy wire fencing. I had to open up the aperture all the way and get right up against the fence to make it disappear.

Processing: Crop, levels, Librodo's sharpening technique, dodge and burn, blur the background more, saturation, colorize the bottom right corner. Scramble to get it posted before the deadline...

Stunningly beautiful colors and it doesn't look overprocessed. The feathers look to me to be just the right softness too. I think you nailed it! SPECTACULAR job! Congrats! I'm sure this will be a ribbon taker... (10)

This vulture is just beautiful even for a scavenger...I wish his head were turned a little more toward the camera, but color and composition and interest are there.
