| Karen, this photo should have scored much higher... good job! to get the focus you needed, you had a few options but in that environment, it may have been difficult. I don't know what features your camera has, but you may have been able t shine a light on her face to set up the focus... then shut down the light and let her turn the toy on then make your photo... I, personally, dont see much of a focus problem on her eyes anyway... They look fine to me :) I would have possibly taken a half step backward as well.. given myself a little more room and produced a crop on the photo that gave you the centering that would have quelled those comments... i like this shot and i gave it a 9 on my vote... good job! |

Does anyone have an idea how I could have focused on the child's eyes in the dark before the toy was turned on? Just wondering if there was any further technical advice - just for kicks, and for any other future shot that I may call on this in my memory banks for....

| Okay, that's cool. Il ike the lights, and the implied motion. Usually, I'm not a stickler about whether a picture is in the middle or not, but I think this one would be more effective if it were. I think it needs at least a little "margin" on the left. |

| Great effect! Sometimes, though, in my opinion this rule against centering your subject just has to be broken to strengthen the photo. I think the case of concentric circles like this is one of them. Although, the colourful background over her left shoulder is nice. I love her hair too. |

What sold mer here? Color, color , color.
I am an absolute SUCKER for neon lights and this was a good and creative use of them. One of my 10 best.
I would have given you a 10 if the subject had been a bit clearer behind the glass but I know it was dark and that may have hurt your light effect. But I have seen it done before so I know it's possible. More neon light glow to her face or a fill light of some sort Still a great photo. |

| constraints of photo size don't do this any justice at all. I love how the lights haven't quite completed a full circle, leaving the viewer to fill in the rest. I think it's a shame that we can't see the detail of the person quite well enough. Not sure the hand in front of the face adds anything ... perhaps that's how you achieved the lights, but I would have liked to have seen the eyes a little better. Probably hard to do given the low light. |

| neat neon colors and good idea. I can't necessarily tell what she is holding up, but I like it regardless. I do wish I could see her mouth, but that obviously (I think) wasn't possible. |

| Bright colors, and good composition. According to the rule of thirds, the boys eyes are in precicely the proper place. |

| Good subject, but the composition looks off to me. The person's head looks almost centerred, but the circles (neon lights?) are too far off. I don't think you needed to show the lights on the right, they kinda detract from this. |

Cutely wierd, how did you do it? Person is a bit tooooo dark, though I don't think you could have done any better. Crops too much at bottom and top. Got me thinking......

| Great idea here. Exposure could have probably been a bit longer to get rid of some of the grain. |
