No headless guys in the background.

The smokiness/haziness gives the picture a dream-like/surreal feeling to it. (I'm sure the actual soldiers thought it was surreal). My only suggestion would be to frame it so the main subject is further right. This gives him further to "look," and it might prevent that one guy from having his arm cut off.

Except for the adult and the young boy in the background (why would they be standing upright if this was a battle) I love this picture. I don't think you have any control over them though so I won't take that away from you. Great pose by the model, good timing by the photographer to get him while his hand is reaching for more bullets.

Thanks for doing this in color. Sepia is a cool trick for this "vintage" photography, but I really like color. Good photo, sharp, shows action, do I detect a bit of gunsmoke haze? I'd suggest a haze filter, but I like the effect in this case. Could you have stepped two steps to the left for a little more face and still show him reaching for reload?

Subject stands out from background - nice job

Very interesting shot. A lot going on here. Seems a little light on my monitor overall. Would have liked to see just a little more contrast.

not enough contrast and i'm not crazy about the headless officer...as an aside, it looks like the guy lying in the shade has the better job!

I love this! He is so nice and clear in the foreground while the background is separated by the lingering smoke. Very nice!

Good shot! Is the 'haze' in this photograph from smoke?

Nice action shot - looks a little washed out

very nice, maybe a little too bright.

This is a photo Robert Capa would have taken had he covered the Civil War and had a digital camera. Great photo

Nice perspective on the shooter, but the fellow behind his head and the one behind the gun are bit distracting here. I understand you shot what and when ya can. Still a nice shot and the colors, action, are very nice.

I like this one. Good action shot, I especially like the haze from the gun smoke

Nice shot of the "hero". Too bad about the guy in the uniform with his head cut off.
