This is a letter holder off my desk at work, lit with three color lights (red blue and yellow).

A few blown highlights might get this marked down a bit, but I really like it.

Rotated, copped, levels, USM, added the borders (first time for borders - normally I don't like them, but it seems to work here) and then saved for the web.

i honestly could not tell what it was-but it was clear to me by its shinniness and reflective nature it was metal - so i took it to be an intentional abstract, and liked it. I gave a 6. You used the three coloured lights very well imho, and i dont thinnk the "blown highlights" hurt in this case, since it obviously is a reflective object, it is an expected and forgivable, even complimentary "fault".
Personally i would have roatd clockwise abit more so the white reflections in the bottom were more parallel with the border. Good to see youre using work hours to improve photography!! :D

great pattern - but if it wasn't a "metal" challenge, I wouldn't know it was metal. Nice colour's too.

Great idea! I am not sure if the reflection adds to the photo.

Took me a while to figure out what it was (saved it and lightened it) and came to the conclusion it is a metal spring with reflections. I think if you made it just a bit less dark, the form comes out better and the colors will differ up and below.
I'll rate it a 6
